I didn't see anything on a search so pardon me if this has been kicked around before. My 45 yr old radiator is not repairable. Since I am doing a street type build I am thinking about an aluminum replacement. On ebay comes with two electric fans......for the same price as stock replacement. My truck doesn't have a shroud and I was thinking I might have to pick one up to keep her cool when I warm the motor up. Any thoughts or past experience is appreciated.
be sure to take proper measurements to verify that it will fit. Also look into how the fans are to be wired and operate. There may be more you have to buy to get them to function.
I haven't got the old one back yet to measure but will definitely wait until I do. I ran fans like this in the past. I still have some relays I scavenged from a buddies junk yard. I hooked those up to a toggle switch so I could run fans after a pass. Wouldn't be hard to do it that way but probably expensive if you buy thermostat to only turn on as needed.
I have seen Ebay listing go both ways come with very thing and nothing in the way of wires and thermostat switches. if you get the electric you wont need a shroud. if you get a radiator and plan to use the mechanical fan then i would strongly suggest you get a shroud they really do help a lot.
