The sail panel is where the quarter panels (or and roof meet. Or other words the exterior panel behind your door glass. Not sure for sure on ford trucks, but most older cars I've seen, this seam is welded and filled with lead from the factory. In fact you could often tell around where the seam is, because you could feel it dip there, The factory didn't usually get this area nice in straight. I worked on an old cougar years ago and should have felt the size of the dip on that car. I'm not sure on a truck if they call anything a sail panel. Or it would probably be where the corner panel behind the door meets the roof.
