power locks half working what do i do?
I know this is kind of a common problem with these trucks.. what is it that I have to replace? I hit the lock buttons and my driver door half locks and the passenger doesn't at all

It's probably the door lock actuator failing. Pull your door panel and use a 12 volt test light.
Unwrap the wiring harness leading to lock latch on the door. Push the L/U button and see if the test light lights up.
If it does the system is fine. You can search tin foil fix or buy a lock actuator at auto store and replace.
I have done tin foil to all 4 doors. Locks worked great. Mechanic burned them all up leaning on the switch or something.
2nd time around I bought a set of 4 12 universal door lock actuators off ebay for $20. Repair is faster and easier that the tin foil imo.
Search my post to find ebay link on other fte forum room.

I have the same problem with my 1999 F250 7.3L diesel. Both doors must be opened with the key. You can hear the actuator trying to work but over the years they have rusted up. Looking inside the door panel appears that they are riveted into position. To replace them is extremely difficult because you can't get your hand into the small space. I need help in this area too on how to go about replacing both door lock actuators.
