I just got a used 91 F250 XLT Lariet that the driver's door won't lock. The factory power door lock switch won't work on either side. You can manual lock the passenger door and with the key. The driver's door will not lock with the key. It won't lock manually from inside. Right now, it doesn't matter if the power locks work or not, just as long as I can lock the doors.
Is this a problem with the power door lock actuator or a binding linkage? I have seen the posts on removing the actuator. I am going to try to remove the actuator to see if the door will lock without the actuator hooked up, unless someone can point me in another direction.
Mine(the '95, with manual locks, but a similar principle applies) was like that, but when I had the door panel off to change the door handle, so I grabbed the button at the top of the door with my pliers and worked it up and down a bunch of times, and sprayed PB Blaster into everything. Works fine now.
Of course... why would I want to lock my truck? If someone were to steal any of my trucks, they'd be saving me money.
It's a pain, because now my arm out the window accidentally locks the door sometimes.
I had the door panel off over the weekend. The Haynes service manual doesn't show squat for removal of the actuator. I did run across an older thread that showed some good pictures. I am hoping that once I disconnect the actuator, the doors will lock. I have some PB Blaster that I will try on the latch assembly if it don't work.
