Driving home today enjoying my new truck,up pops check engine light. At 1,300 miles it was the last thing I thought would happen, but I'm sure guys have had them sooner.Dealer was on the way home,it was after 4:30 so I didn't expect anything to happen there. But to my surprise my salesman got the service manager to plug in scanner and I've got a p2080,forgot what he said it was.Anyone else get this gift
There have been several EGT sensor failures reported here.
Good news, if that's the issue, it's an easy fix.
On the 2011's, the trucks would shutdown when an EGT sensor reported bad data.
That was a big complaint (the shutdown) I've not seen in awhile.
At least now it appears the truck does a bit of self troubleshooting if all the sensors don't report high EGTs.
P2080 - Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Bank 1 Sensor
This is the code.
Thanks. Is this a recurring issue with the 6.7?If you kept a spare sensor could you change it yourself and clear it with a scanning tool, if it's cost effective and what scanner is recommended?
My first cel, my truck was 3 months old. Second cel, it was 6 months old. Not what your expecting with a brand new truck, but I guess you gotta get the bugs worked out
Went to the dealer at 8am to see what they would do without an appointment. To my surprise they took in the truck to check the cel.As Senix said it was the p2080 exhaust gas temp sensor, unfortunately they didn't have one in stock and maybe in a day or two they would have it.I asked if they could take one out of a new truck in stock and they surprised me again and did it.I was in and out in two and a half hours so I'm happy with their service. With only 1,350 miles I couldn't believe how much soot had built up on the sensor, tech said it was normal. Is it normal?
Yeah, if you only have 1,300 miles and there was already soot built up, that truck needs a workout at least once a week.
Lots of short drives are not good for several components, including the EGR system.

Gave her a good workout yesterday.Road trip 400 miles with my enclosed 25 ft trailer and a 3900lb car going and 4100lb car coming back.Ran great, averaged 14 mpg going and 12.8 returning.
