Throttle/Shifting Issue
Second, at any random time it so chooses, my truck has little to almost no throttle response. There's some, but definitely not what I need pulling onto the highway.
I took it to Autozone and had them run a scan gauge on it, can't remember the code (P2xxx ?) Low Injection Control System Pressure.
Is this my FICM?
Hard starting in the morning could be a FICM issue. There are instructions on how to test it in the tech folder, quick and easy. If it fails the test it can usually be repaired much cheaper than replaced. Running ok after it warms up is consistent with a FICM problem.
Random loss of power can have several causes and can be a pain in the but to chase down. It's hard to say with the info provided.
We love codes around here unfortunate you don't remember which one you pulled but low ICP is related to the high pressure oil system. On the '03 the high pressure pump might be the first suspect. But could be the injector pressure regulator (IPR) or the ICP (injector control pressure sensor) it's self.
Except for testing the FICM (if your comfortable with a multimeter) you really need an OBDII monitor of some sort. The ScanGaugeII is a popular choice along with smartphone apps. Some higher end scanners at the parts store do "live Data" also. Computer based software is more powerful but more expensive also. AutEngenuity is a popular choice.
As always, if the oil and fuel filters aren't up to date it's always worth a shot to do those. Be sure you are running the shorter OEM oil filter cap and Motorcraft/Racor filter.
Cool screen name btw! I was in a local bar band we called 80Proof for many years.
