The undersized pulleys if you can even get them do not go along with the electric fan idea. The electric fan draws a lot of current and usually requires a larger alternator to run it. The overdrive tranny is a good idea.
would taller(not wider ) tires work at keeping rpms down with out to much drag?
it has 3.08 geared rear axle ( which is as high as I want to go)
at {55}mph it stays at 2000rpm ( sound a little high ,or is that perfect) being a basic custom and geared for "highway" use is what I would think 3.08 is for....?
Sounds like you have the best of everything already. It takes a certain amount of power to push a brick through the air, so going slower will be one of the few options you have. I think if you went with a overdrive tranny, the six would not have enough power to push that truck very fast with a 3.08 gear. Or you would be constantly shifting it in and out of overdrive. It might be ok if it's flat where you live.
Looks like you have about the right tire on it also.
One thing we forgot to ask; Is this truck's engine all original with the original emissions controls all hooked up and working? This truck has a computer to run it, and if it's been messed with, that's where all your fuel mileage has gone.
Well the emissions ,computer ,and feed back carb are all gone except "EGR" valve ( need to figure out how to get that working again).
The emissions and feedback car previous owner removed , ran like ***** , etc. converted to Dura spark ii.. Now here I am,
wanting better mpgs and power through little mods etc..
