Hello everyone, I just recently purchased a 99 250 7.3L with the 6 speed transmission. When I bought it I could hear the throwout bearing clanking inside. So when we got it home we replaced the clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, clutch pivot ball, as well as the master and slave cylinder. After bleeding it to the point where we can almost not get the slave back into the bell housing due to the pressure, the clutch pedal is not returning completely. When depressed it feels like it has plenty of resistance, but does not completely return. You can pull it up the remaining 2-3 inches but still isnt' level with the gas and brake. Also when having the clutch depressed all the way to the floor, if you let your foot off the brake, the truck wants to still move forward. And with shifting you kinda have to press the gas and shift to ease it into the gears. The slave cylinder doesn't have a nipple to bleed it from, only a screw, so we are unable to bleed with it still in the bell housing. Any ideas on what it could be? Maybe the pedal assembly? Some have said that it is the master and slave still having air, but wouldn't you still be able to pull the pedal up to match the brake and gas? I'm at a loss and any help would be appreciated.
You have either air in the system or the wrong pressure plate. Did you compare the new parts with the old ones and be certain they were all alike? If all the parts were the same, then you'll need to bleed the air out.
I bought the clutch kit from auto zone. I did not compare the pressure plates. Everything mounted up fine, and the only real difference in the clutch kits seemed to be whether it was an aftermarket or oem flywheel.
