I had a long talk to the other half about opening a shop for strictly 6.0 and do nothing but 6.0 Fords, completely from top to bottom, mods, custom, whatever. I'm thinking about calling it 6.0 Rescue, the 911 for your Superduty. I'm going to retire soon, maybe sooner than later if the offer is right . I've spoke with a dealer ship for parts at the right price and a few vendors. It's not going to be cheap starting up although I do have a good amount of equipment I still need a ton of stuff. I really want to keep it low key and put my toy box up out back put I don't think it would go over well with the township or the neighbors and that means commercal property. I've got to get help too so that would be a expense too....someone that knows 6.0 and not a butcher, cause that not going to happen on my watch. I want it to be the place to go state wide. I'm open for any ideas, I got the plan I got the ambition, I've got to get monies start up figures and then make up my mind.
I think that's very cool. I wish I could do the same. There is definitely a need in this town for a powerstroke shop. Finding and keeping a good tech is going to be difficult.
My friend Kenny know a guy that just left a dealership because it changed hands and he was unhappy with the new owners, he going to do some side work there, I think I'm going to ck him out and play stupid and see how good he is. I know Kenny won't let the cat out of the bag as they say
100% behind that Performance, if you keep it low key for a while you would get away with it, no midnite wrenchin my get you called on, Once you did a few to see if that's really what you want then rent a shop space or building.
Good Luck My Friend theres other Ave for this too, Ie = products
Note that Ford owns a trademark for the term: "Power Stroke"
For Class of Goods: land vehicles, namely, trucks and structural parts thereof. FIRST USE: 19950831. FIRST USE IN COMMERCE
Serial Number 74485639
So, technically, one should not use any name confusingly similar to "Power Stroke" as a name for a service related to Power Stroke engines.
The name does not have to be identical to be confusingly similar.
"Power Stroke 911" would not work either.
"Diesel Stroke 6.0" would be ok from a trademark law point of view (just an example).
If you remained local, I doubt Ford would ever say anything but there is a risk and you would never be able to trademark your name if it was confusingly similar to "Power Stroke" (if such is important to you).

Oh get out!!! that would be so great, and I didn't realize you are in NJ... not so close but not THAT far from me either! I would love to see how I can help with that too. I love small businesses and would love to see that succeed! I definitely keeping a close eye on this thread!
I mapped it out somewhat... I'm only about an hr away from Morganville. That would be awesome and I could learn tons also and you can have extra hands/help from me. Keep us updated for sure!
I still have my old business Under the name Performance marine and automotive, I also apprecate the info on the legal mess. I really have done a long study on this diesel and have a good understanding of most of the troubles brought on by regular techs and is only going to get worse as these trucks get old and new models come out. I've driven the newer powerstokes with the mods coming out for them and they are unbelievable in the power they put out, but so is the price tag. There is no way I'm spending that kind of money on a vehical it just not happening. That's why I know the business will be a good choice, if I'm thinking like that, I'm betting so are others
Good Luck! I have a Harley-Davidson & Automotive Aftermarket Shop. If I didn't have so much tied up in tools and equipment I'd let them go. HOPEFULLY, somewhere in the foreseeable future (I doubt it) the economy will turn upward. I'm literally broke - just making the bills with almost nothing left over. And, I'm sure Uncle Sam will take me to the cleaners again this year! The customers I do have are pleased but even they can't afford the expenses.
I went that route with the high performance end of the boating and classic car market so I know where your coming from. People are not spending the money on the toys unless it makes them run or keep running. I'm banking on the guy that's a working stiff like me and can't afford 70 G's for a truck, because that's the number by the time your done with the goodies. I'll keep my 6.0 and show people how good a motor it really is. I plan on a few minor mods for the real world owner and a few for me but that's it. Most people I know with 6.0 tell me the big bucks they spend and a week later it's back in the shop because of a incompetent tech or a incomplete diagnosis
