With 208,000 miles I probably should replace the fuel injectors in my 2000 EB. I just completed installing a re-manufactured 5.4 L longblock .
It was from S and J engines in Spokane. They did a nice job. I already had installed a dorman intake manifold and it has a K&N intake with cold airbox.
It has the single hole, series 1? Should I switch to the newer series 2 or 3 four hole injector. Is this a straight swap? Will the plugs fit?
It currently runs fine, but some say the newer ones have better atomization.
I pulled the wife's injectors on her 2000 Expedition and they were 4-hole type. I suggest replacing them with same type and not the 4-hole EV 6. The ones I had replaced hers with, I'm not happy with, as they are louder and I think they aren't near as good. If your injectors are doing well, I say keep running, or spend some $$$ and buy a good new set and stay away from rebuilt.I think I will buy a new set later to replace the rebuilt set I had here.
I offer an opinion that doesn't talk well with rebuilt ones, but others may have had better luck than me.
