Exclamation Transmission problems

Im new to this site, and could not find my answer searching the topics. Earlier this morning while taking off from a stop sign, my truck got up to about 30 mph and went into a false neutral. It revved and when i would accelerate it just revved higher until i took it into 2nd gear. Also when I turn overdrive off, the truck would get up to speed, but as soon as i turn overdrive on, it goes back into a rev. All my fluid levels read ok and I had a mechanic tell me it was a fuel problem and another told me that it sounds like ive lost 3rd and 4th gears. Can anyone help?!?

Ok, after reading threads and forums all day, I think that Ive figured out the problem. I believe it is a broken snap ring or E-clip that has fallen and jammed up a valve, preventing it from shifting into 3rd.
