Coolant level

OK so I just changed out my coolant in my 07 with 13k drained into a bucket looked perfect clear right to bottom of pail no foreign objects in pail. Removed driver plug but couldn't get pass plug. Filled with distilled water ran for a few drained again and installed a coolant filter, topped up with four gallons ford gold and finished with distilled water. Now my coolant level is all over the place when hot it's way over the mark than I removed some to bring it level with the mark than shows low when hot. Add a little and than way over.Deltas are perfect at about 5' and runs at 190. Never did this before should I check cold or is the mabey a air pocket? Any ideas.

Thanks

The Cold coolant level should be around a 1/2" or so below the low level that is molded in to the degas bottle, the old low is the new high.

The best way to refill the engine is with a vacuum set-up.

IMO you definitely have air in the system.

I agree, air in the system. Did you remove the thermostat during the flushes? Did you turn the heat on during the flushes? The air may be trapped in the heater core. You should try running the truck with the heater on. You don't have to turn the fan on high, just put the temp on highest setting.

I believe it will evenutally work itself out, but if not, the best way to do it in the future is to remove the thermostat which will mean you have to dump about a gallon of coolant before doing it by opening the radiator drain ****. You don't actually need to do anything other than remove the clamp from the radiator connection and remove the 10mm bolts from the thermostat housing and pop it up out of the way. Then fill with coolant where the housing attaches. Just pour it in the hole. Drop the thermostat and housing back in, connect it all up and refill with a 50/50 mix. If you still have one of your old Gold Coolant bottles, you can make your own 50/50 mix. It comes out much cheaper.

I don't have any coolant left, this morning when it was cold the level was way way below the line when the truck heated up now it's way over the line. I'll try the heater thing and go for a long hard drive on the hwy.

Thanks

I went for a hard ride with the heat on 90 all the way, here's the level hot and cold with the deltas from the hot picture sat overnight for the cold pic. I can't figure it how else can I bleed the air out. Low pic is cold high one is hot

That is the range where mine rides in as well. I don't see anything wrong with that.
