Bumper prices.

Need your opinions!!!

I'm in the market for a chrome step bumper for a 73 f350. My current one looks like a homemade push bar.

My front bumper is emasculate. So I'd like to get a rear step bumper that matches. After looking around I'm realizing that a used one in the same condition as my front bumper is nearly impossible, so I'm looking at brand new.

My question is,
Dave Carpenter = $600 *ouch*
Bronco Graveyard = $259 *better*

Is there a difference in quality? If so, how much? Will the cheaper one rust quicker? Is there a better place to look for this item?

Thanks in advance.

"Emasculate"? What does that mean? Sounds like something Foghorn Leghorn would say.

He probably means immaculate, which in turn means very nice.

Nothing wrong with Graveyard bumpers, put a couple on my Bronco years ago.

Ah... because "emasculate" in non-truck terms means:

<STYLE type=text/css> .headword .ld_on_collegiate { margin:10px 0 0 0;padding:0 0 0 19px; width: 405px;} .ld_on_collegiate p {margin:0 0 10px 0;padding:0;line-height:20px; } .ld_on_collegiate p.bottom_entry {margin:0 0 3px 0;padding:0;line-height:20px;} #mwEntryData div.headword .ld_on_collegiate p em, .ld_on_collegiate p em { color: black; font-weight: normal; } #mwEntryData div.headword + div.d { margin-top: -7px; } .ld_on_collegiate .bnote { font-weight: bold; } .ld_on_collegiate .sl, .ld_on_collegiate .ssl { font-style: italic; } </STYLE>: to make (a man) feel less masculine : to deprive (a man) of his male strength, role, etc.
: to make (something) weaker or less effective

So what your saying is his bumper isn't "emasculate"?

Ha ha. Stupid iPhones. Yes. I meant immaculate.

Thank you Ranger429 for ACTUALLY answering the question.
I'll do a little more shopping and and see what happens. But I'd like to get one sooner rather than later.

Lol. How about furry boa draped over the seat and a lace headliner?

That would be emasculate.

Mine has that auto correct crap on it as well and sometimes screws up a word in my texting.

The JBG bumper is fine.

Mike wouldn't that be your other truck! ?

I have been trying to use original chrome bumpers but like you I am at the point I will have to buy a new one from someone like JBG or Dennis Carpenter. I have read somewhere (sorry for the weak details) that some of today's aftermarket chrome bumpers are not chromed as well as the ones that were installed on our trucks back in the day. I forget all of the details about the chroming process but there are cheap chrome jobs and good chrome jobs. I live in central Canada where road salt, mud, slush, etc. take their toll on vehicles. As an example, lots of people put chrome plated step bars on their trucks that begin to have rust spots show up within a year or two. The 40 year old chrome bumpers on my bumpsides & dentsides are still in good condition--better chrome. If you are in a dry climate, it won't matter who's bumper you buy. Does the $600 DC bumper have better chrome plating? Maybe JBG & DC get their bumpers from the same place? Just something to think about.

I believe copper is the difference. Quality chrome pieces are plated in copper, nickel, and then chromium. Crap-quality pieces leave out the copper layer.
