Dang that is awesome....

I have been using a cardboard box flatten out over the front of the engine...and a rag over the hood latch.

The little studs that hold the filter cover on has eat me up....Dumb A$$ old me just figured out to put the nuts back on the studs...Got to find something better than a cardboard box..

I am using a 2 step stepladder that dang thing has shot out from under my feet so many times I can not count.

I am on all kinds of meds. Plavix, blood thinners ect.ect...My arms look so bad Blood spots from my wrist to nearly the elbow on both arms, now I wear a long sleeve shirt when I got to go out an get stuff.

Yes my chest and belly is so sore I barely can take a deep breath...

One Fact is for sure.....Getting old is not for sissies..

And I got to do it again tomorrow.

My grandpa operated a ranch in Mineral Wells, Texas. He is the one who taught me how to start a colt the right way. All I remember, before he passed when I was 26, was he was THE toughest SOB I ever had the privilege of knowing and learning from. I am here as God's witness to tell you that it seems your generation of men gets tougher as they get older. I am guessing you are one tough son of a gun. You are right...not for sissies.

Well that was not to bad..........The square o-ring where the turbo housing connects to the plenum about 1 inch of the o-ring was out of the slot to the inside of the plenum..

Good thing was the o-ring was not damaged.. so good to go now.

The bad news is the fuel leak is coming from the lower hose on the fuel filter or something under the fuel filter.....I have never seen so much junk hooked to a dang fuel filter.

Are there any tricks to replace these hoses and anything else I need to do while this contraption is off the truck.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Well...........I am still Mad

I thought I had found where the noise was coming from....the o ring from the plenum to the y pipe going to the heads was not seated in the slot

worked on the fuel leaks....and what a mess I found..I cleaned the fuel bowl new filter....replaced all the rubber lines.

I still have one hell of a whistle type noise coming from under the hood when I am driving it...as soon as it hits 10 lbs of boost it starts..

I did not see any tears or holes in the 2 boots...I cleaned and dried them good to make sure

I am lost.....Maybe the truck does not like the performance wheel.

I am so tired and sore....I think I will let it sit until some time next week...then decide what I will do next.......

May just put it in the shop.....just hate to have to sell another gun..

The guru on here on turbo's is Travis (strokin' tatsch). I would be good to get his opinion on that wheel.

wow, what a thread! Poor Joey! I totally agree about the fuel bowl and all the dang on lines and such.... don't make them easy at all to work on unless you remove the whole thing.

I suspect those turbo pipes just aren't seated right. They recommend scribing or marking through both tubes and clamp before taking them apart to facilitate reassembly. Helps line everything up better too before putting on those great v clamps.

I have no clue as to what a up pipe is....

I do not understand what you mean by scribing a line on both pipes and v-clamp

are you talking about the plenum pipe that connects to the turbo outlet going into the heads???

I am beginning to hate this damn truck......Everything I touch on this truck turns to *****

The sound that is coming out from under the hood is like a squealing fan belt and a turbo whistle except it is 20X louder than my 5 in. open exhaust.
It only happens when it hits 10 psi boost...Oh an the most boost I can get now is about 20- 22 lbs of boost....and that is pushing the hell out of the truck. when it changes gears the boost drops back to 2- 5 psi

before the filter issue it would easily hit 25-28 lbs and that was not pushing anywhere like I am doing now

with the propane and other goodies it would do 40 psi. the guy that did all the mods to the truck told me to keep it below 40 until I let him O-Ring the heads....ever what the means...I just knew it was going to be another $2800........I had already spent $10-12K at that time.

I liked it much better when I was making good money and let him do the mods. I was making about 38.50 per hr. then....now I get $1200 per month.

I will have to take pics of my explanation... I find it hard to transfer my exact thought or image in my head to another person's head, and doing so by posts with no images is even worse. The soonest I have access to a truck with a turbo -period- wouldn't be until tmrw at the earliest and as late as weds.... weather around here will be soggy for next cple days and most of my work is on site outside. I hope someone chimes in sooner or has pics to describe better...

I will look briefly in my own pics to see if I may have one good enough to view/post... I take pics of most of my jobs.

I saw on youtube that a guy made a fitting that goes into the inlet pipe right at the turbo...it is a PVC pipe cap with a air line fitting screwed into it. you put the pipe cap into the rubber tube right in front of the turbo wheel..

attach the cap with hose clamps then put 20 pounds of shop air into the turbo....then spray everything with soapy water and look for air leaks..

Will this work on our trucks. If so I will go get this stuff and try it...

I just took the wife on a ride in the truck and let her hear the noise...I can get the sound to start with as little as 2 -3 lbs of boost

She is on my case to have this running like it should before Friday...
She has been planning a horse ride trip for 4 months...I am sure with the 20 foot goose neck hooked up the noise would drive you crazy in no time.

Right now she is not a happy camper.......and you know what that means..

You can build one of those and it does work.

Is the power down on your test drive? How bad is the whistle? The new wheel as its designed could be real noisy, I don't know. How high did it boost on your drive?
