There are two orings between the turbo and pedestal, and two between the pedestal and block. I'm just hoping that they didn't get accidently out of place.
No one told me I could not change the turbo wheel without taking the whole dang thing out.
Really...I had no issues changing out the wheels until I tried to install the new Kinugawa performance wheel.
In the pics. you can see that the new shinny wheel is taller than the stock wheel or the wheel that I put back on the truck that was a 99 year and newer model.
I think the standard height is 80 mm for the stock wheels, the new billet wheel is 86.22 mm tall.......That is when everything went to jello in a hand basket. I needed about 4 mm more room between the head and the cover to install the new billet wheel. That is when I started to have to remove the turbo housing.
Once I got all the nuts and bolts loose on the pedestal and turbine pipe, I did not remove the back two 10mm bolts from the pedestal. I just lifted the front of the housing up and over...maybe 3/8 in. up and 1/4 over the cover slipped right back on.
When I started to do the new wheel change out....I thought I could do it in less than 30 min. I had the cover off and the compressor wheel off and the new wheel on in 15 min. But I had only put 3 of the turbo 8mm bolts back in the housing cover...I knew I was going to put the right wheel or billet wheel after I drove the truck with the other wheel.
I did not use an impact gun to remove the compressor wheel either.
I sure hope I did not move those O-rings....I will find out some time today.
I almost got everything back together...until I dropped the 15mm nut that goes on the stud at the back of the turbo...Oh...the one that was so hard to get off...
From the sound of it falling it did not seem to go far....so I put everything else together....
Now I have spent 2 hrs looking for that dang NUT....
Magnets, mirrors and drop lights..........Nothing
I have a large piece of carpet under the truck....and it is not down there either.
What comes out of the pedestal if the O-rings are leaking???
I am sure that is a dumb question.....But I got a fuel leak from hell now...
It is almost running out on the ground about 30 drips per min. and the valley is soaked. Just at idle
I am sorry to bitch so much...but I have had a heart attack and on 8 pills a day....3 stints in my heart.
I am about 6'1 and 250 lbs....which most of it is in my belly. I am hurting so much now from dealing with this turbo it is not funny..Now this mess..
I was an industrial mech. most of my life ....but at 67 yrs old...I am not worth much anymore..
I sold one of my guns to get the money to work on this dang truck because of that damn air filter .
I had a very small fuel leak before I started on this turbo mess.....I could park it after driving and there would be a spot about the size of a 50 cent piece............But not any more
If the turbo o-rings are messed up it will leak oil. If you have a fuel leak like that it's probably one of the fuel lines under the fuel bowl. That's not as bad a job as the turbo, but it still means leaning over the truck for a while. I wish I was closer so I could help more...
The orings seal oil, not fuel. Did you possibly bump a sensor or something on the side of the fuel bowl when working over the motor? If its leaking that bad, you should be able to see it I'd think. Stick with it Joey, as long as that's fuel and not oil, you're almost there.
Take a break. Then go back, clean it up a little, and fire it up and see if you can see the leak. Good luck.
So far it is just fuel.....I cleaned the valley and blew it out with air...Stuffed a rag under the banjo bolt. I removed the snap on cover that is over the fuel lines.
Started the truck and let it warm up some ....then decided to take it down the road.........
The boost shot up to 20psi then this GOD awful noise... as soon as I heard that sound I let off the boost dropped to 0
Now every time I make the boost jump up to 10 - 15 lbs it sounds like a high pitch fart. I have never heard a sound like that before.
These trucks (1995) do not have a waste gate on them.???? That is what it reminds me of.
The fuel seems to be coming from under the bottom/ rear of the fuel filter..I don't see any wet spots on any of the lines anywhere around the pump and filter.
Yes....it is time to stop....cool down...take a nice shower and have a cup of coffee
There is a fuel line that goes between the bottom of the fuel bowl and the bottom of the pump. It is the suction line for the pump. There are also three other little lines (two of which were under that cover you pulled) that could be leaking. If you end up replacing the lines, go to the parts store and get some fuel injection rated (SAE30R9) hose. The 30R7 stuff isn't rated for the pressures that these systems run.
The farting noise you're hearing sounds to me like one of the plenum boots is leaking.
Joey, last winter I did a ton of mods and I call this my rib saver! Before I used this my ribs and chest would hurt so bad I thought I was having a heart attack, LOL. Its part of a back seat out of a 94 Bonneville that I used the 3800 supercharged motor out of. Of course, they make a platform that rolls over the motor that you can lay on. Never got one.
