Misfire and codes
Driving home last night truck had a little stumble. Thought it might be fuel filter. Slight miss at idle and jerky under acceleration. No SES light. Went to Autozone and bought new fuel filter. Pull out of lot and SES comes on. Go back and have codes read.
171 rich/lean
316 generic misfire coded
301 cycl number 1 misfire
Buy and replace cyl number one plug and coil. I did a resistance test on both and I think they were good. Plug was a little dirty but not fouled. For $55 it was piece of mind and I'm keeping the old parts in the truck just in case it happens again on the road someplace.
Was looking on the forum for vacuum leak culprits. I "think" this is a vrv hose. It comes off the pass side of intake and goes into another hose. One end of which goes to the pcv valve. It was nearly split in half.

Replaced the section or hose. Reconnected battery. Appears fixed. Runs good, no miss at idle, pulls stong up hills, no codes. Thought I'd pass it along in case someone has same codes.
Its interesting to note that my altima had a very similar misfire about a year ago. It had a misfire code on the middle back bank, where you have to pull the intake manifold off to access it. Changed the plug (nkg) and replaced the coil, no more problem. The altima and expy are one year apart and both had the plugs and cops replaced at a little over 100k. At the time I was doing 'preventative' maintenance. In hindsight, now that I've had this situation twice on two different vehicles I should have just replaced the plugs and left the cops to burn out on their own. Lot of money to spend and have to come back 50k miles later and replace them.
