04 Navigator driver side suspension went out

Just turned 100k miles today and then noticed the vehicle was very bouncy. Stopped and look at the suspension. The front driver is for sure out but the driver rear I am not sure. Would you think this is a suspension only problem or something else like the solenoid, compressor, or height sensor? I have pics but the site will not let me upload.

I just turned on the vehicle and I didn't hear the compressor turn on.

I would look into conversion coil overs so you don't run into this problem in the future. Might cost less than replacing the compressor too. Keep us updated...

I do not want to deal with the suspension error message. I have a buddy with an 04 Navigator who did the conversion. He will give me one of the rear suspension, so I may get away with just buying 1 front. I do understand that if one goes, the others are not far behind :-)

Screw it. I just ordered a Suncore conversion kit today for $449 shipped. Going on vacation in a few months and would hate if/when another failure happened. Should be delivered on Friday.

Have you searched to see if there is a way to eliminate the error message?

I had the same problem on my wife's 03 Navigator at around the same mileage as yours. It turned out to be a leaking front bag. The interesting thing was that the leak was caused by the blown shock I discovered when changing the air bag. The oil from the shock leaked into the bag causing the rubber to deteriorate. I changed the shock also and am still riding on air. Not ready to throw in the towel yet.

Dealership said what they usually see is the cap leaks. I wouldn't mind keeping the air, but the remaining 3 are still old. I will convert this weekend and then in a few years if I have to start towing anything I will buy all new and convert back.

They will provide instructions when I get it delivered. But I asked about the error. She said something like, take out only the air suspension. Keep the solenoid, ride height sensors, compressor, and relay still hooked up. But when I get the instructions this Friday I will have their exact language to "hopefully" get the correct answer to clear that error.

You should take a grip load of photos and post a write-up on it...Im sure many would appreciate it.

I put the strutmaster kit just on the front of my 98 exp it has been a few years and they have been great the ride is good I still have air in the back and the compressor still comes on and pumps the back up works real good for towing. To delete the suspension light I had to take the dash apart to get to a certain wire and cut it.

From the paperwork of Suncore.
1) All other components of the air suspension system like height sensors, control module, solenoids, and compressor must remain installed plugged in and electrically in working condition.
2) Disconnect the solenoid valves from the air struts but leave them plugged in to the electrical connection an tied to the vehicle.
3) Turn the suspension switch on.

This didn't work for me, but they said to check the solenoid to make sure it is in working order. Might have been the problem to begin with.
