Sway Bar Links

I noticed when changing my oil that the front left sway bar link was broke. I went to the dealer and they gave me a price of $40 for a pair. What a rip off. I went to napa and got a pair for $16. They appear to be better in quality and the metal is zinc plated. Here is my question, when installing the new links(between the a arm and sway bar) is there a specific torque for the nuts. With 4 rubber washers on the link you can tighten them puppies all day long. It seems as well that the nuts could work themselves loose over time. Does a new set of links change the camber?

Yup, that's what I paid for mine over at Ford dealership. Thanks for the Napa info, I'll get some spares. As far as the torque, I just tightened mine and drove over speed bumps one side at a time to see/hear of any clicking sound. I would not over-tighten them, just snug enough, not too tight not too loose. No, the camber on mine did not change at all. The first thing I did after replacing my links was to go have my alignment checked; unless of course you had bad alignment prior to changing the links. The truck handled much better after the links were in place. I too found out whilst changing my oil

Safe driving,
Dan

great white, I read some where that you should park on a level area & tighten the end links until the swaybar is parallel with the lower A-Arm. Since the bar has a hump built into it, I took this to mean the little flat part at the end of the bar being parallel to the arm.

I had the same thing happen to me, having my oil changed and noticed it, except they cost me $25 each at the Ford dealer. Then it was raining on a Saturday so I didn't feel like crawling under the truck to change it out so I took it to the local repair shop and they hit me $65 labor for a 10 minute job, oh well???

I also had the same problem and bought a polyurethane end link kit for $14. What a difference over the rubber. Less flex and the end link itself is a whole hell of a lot beefier.

It was an Energy Suspension kit that included new end link bolts with the polyurethane bushings as well as the front polyurethane sway bar bushings. Whole kit was about $18.00 and I got it from www.suspension.com

By the way, I was told by a suspension guru that the end link bolts should be tightened down until the bushings squeeze(bulge) to the same width as the steel washer/cup that holds the bushing.
Just my 2 cents,,,,,that was loaned to me,,,,,lol.
