Not sure on the abs light, check the single wire connection on the alternator for the battery light.
If your injectors are firing, you should see smoke while cranking, especially a longer crank. If they are not, you won't. That leads towards an idm/ipr/wiring problem.
And you are right, it won't start with the ipr unplugged. It will with the icp unplugged.
Thanks fordman. That actually gives me some hope that I'm not chasing problems and may of actually been on the right track. Although, would I still smell raw diesel in the exhaust if the injectors weren't firing?
I'll check the alternator wiring, maybe it's shorted out on something. I have the batteries unplugged for the time being so I don't drain them.
So if I understand what you're saying correctly, the injectors are getting fuel which is why I smell the diesel, but aren't actually firing which would be due to the IPR or something in line with HPO getting to the injectors. I know the basic mechanics of how the powerstrokes are run, so what you say makes plenty if sense.
