e99 smoke issue

My e99 (Mar 98) has 250k, all stock. I recently deleted the EBPV (was leaking lots of oil), and while at it I replaced every oring I could find, including all injector orings, the HPOP, fuel bowl, fuel lines, etc. Installed the HPx and FRx from RR as well.

Before all this it was running weak, and I had boost problems and leaky exhaust under the hood. The turbo exhaust housing bolts were loose, and the pass up-pipe donut leaked, so there was soot and black, burnt oil residue all over everything back there.

Now, it idles fine, with no noticeable smoke, and for the first few minutes on the road it's clean with good power. But then it starts putting out tons of grey smoke, both part throttle and idle. Let it idle for awhile it gets better. I'm too far from a highway to get it there for a WOT run (I'm afraid I'll kill pedestrians with all the smoke).

Also, since the work, my MAP sensor seems to be dead, it reads a steady 14.74 psi on AE, and I get the P code for it as well. I'm thinking I broke the wire at the connector.

CCT says #1 has an issue. Any thoughts? I didn't notice any coolant in the cups when I removed the injectors, and I didn't have any issues with removing or reinstalling anything during any of the work, except for the up-pipe stuff. I had previously done all this work on my old '97 a few years ago with no follow-up issues.

Thanks, Tom

turbo seals, they will dump a lot of oil in the exhaust and it won't burn, just make smoke.

Thanks helifixer, but along with everything else I also got the turbo rebuild kit from Riffraff, and although it was the first time I pulled a turbo apart, it went well and I'm fairly certain I got it all right.

New symptom however. Well, probably an old symptom, just looked someplace new. I've been letting it idle a bit, and doing some very light driving, and the exhaust smoke has all but stopped. I popped the oil fill cap and it looks like an old steam locomotive. Definitely smells like burning coolant, and I'm loosing level in the reservoir. So I'm guessing I screwed up something with reinstalling the injectors. Again, I peered into the injector cups when the injectors were out, and they looked clean, compared to some of the videos Tugly has posted of leaky cups. Any ideas?

could be that you didn't get an injector seated all the way, that could let combustion past the copper gasket on the tip of the injector and possibly damage a cup.
