Gear selector?

I searched and couldn't find anything like the problem I'm having. My gear selector has a lot of resistance when changing gears. The lever itself is tight, and it doesn't get stuck or hung up, it just seems to take more pressure than it should to move it between gears. Anybody know what causes this, and what the fix would be?

Mine did that when I changed transmissions. It was the box on the side of the transmission. I had the old one on my old trans and just switched them. I have an extra one but would have to try it to see if it is ok. Have you done any work on it or did it just start happening?

Thanks for the quick reply Bill. I just bought this Ex about 6 weeks ago. Still fixing all that is wrong with it. The shifter has been like this since I got it. I thought it was that box on the side of the trans,(don't know the name of it). I unbolted it, but couldn't figure out how to remove the cable without breaking it. I will try again tomorrow when there's more light available.

Here you go, a thread I started last year for the same issue. I replaced the switch, it was about $50.
