Tinted Windows

For you guys that have tinted your front windows, what degree of tint did you go with and if you had to do it again would you do the same?

I got the factory tint on my windows (rear windows, nothing on the fronts), then added another layer of 30 to all the windows so the back is essentially limo tinted and the fronts are tinted enough for the police not to hassle me.

We always had tint on our windows in AZ so I'm used to it, feels weird not having tint IMO. It looks alot darker in the pic below than it really is, it was overcast out.

I did 20% which I believe is what the rear windows are? They are technically illegal as I believe 35% is limit here, but I have never been stopped or bothered about it so I would for sure do it again.

My f150 I stayed legal and always wished I went darker.

20% matches the rear pretty dang close.

I added 20% to all of my windows and love it. This is the second F350 I have run like this and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. This past April I added 50% tint to the windshield and that ended up getting me in trouble! I had to pull the windshield and front windows, but I'm going to get the doors done 20% again. My tint guy has a 70-80% reflective tint that doesn't look dark from outside but really makes a difference on the windshield so I will probably go that route.

I would go with whats legal in your state.Pain in the *** to remove and then have to go to dmv to prove it.I had another car of mine tinted at 20 percent for 3 yrs no problem, then I get pulled over for no other reason then the tint.State cop on highway.Im a firemen and he saw I was on my way to the firehouse for work and let me off but it made me go with what was legal in my state for my truck when I bought it.I have to admit having twenty percent makes it nearly impossible to see in your mirrors backing up at night.I always have to put the windows down to see clearly at night. When its 5 degrees out it sucks.Another reason not to go too dark.Dont need the hassle.Jmo

20% on all of my windows including the rear.

Makes a huge difference in the summer, plus it makes it easier for the kids to watch the dvd head rests during the day.
If I ever got stopped the dealer would pull it off and then re-tint all the windows for $200 once I showed them it was gone.

I have 20% on the front, dad's truck(burgundy) has 30% front. I like the 20% but it is pretty dark. With his canopy it helped darken everything , I like the 30% more since it adds more of a shadow appearance, not a blackout.

the legal limit on the front sides here is 43% with that said I put 35% on my side windows, its not enough from the legal limit to raise any questions. on my old truck I had 50% it isn't that much better than stock. 20% is about what the factory tint is on the rears. 5% has its advantages but the cops around here will get you, you can just pay the $50 fine and move on. however its really nice for checking out chicks in short skirts in their little cars during the summer time 5% is bad in dark neighborhoods at night as its sometimes it a bit hard to see where you are turning. rolling down the windows helps. The main reason why I haven't went back to 5% is because I hunt quite a bit and it makes spotting animals from the roads difficult especially when its bitter cold outside. 20% is probably a good balance of dark and still able to see at night.

20% on front doors, 5% on everything else. Nothing on windshield.

Well I thought the dealer was putting 20% on my new 2014 but found out today when I got there it was 35%

GA just passed a new law effective Aug. 1st that it's up to a $1,000 fine for the driver for illegal tint, plus $5,000 for the shop that did it AND $1,000 for each window the installer tinted.
I think my jaw hit the ground when I heard that. Supposedly it's a safety issue for the cops and I guess they we're told dark tint fits the profile of drug runners from FL.
BS it's a money making machine for the state.

The accessory guy at the dealership his wife was stopped last week. She drives a honda with chrome rims and a small spoiler and tinted windows. She was stopped as that car fit the profile of drug runners she was told. $189 ticket for illegal tint.
Now I can't even get 20% from a shop even if I wanted it.
What a money scam for the state.

Well it looks like must everyone has 20%. Well after talking with a coworker today and the guy that is going to install the tint I have decided to go with the 35%. It is a compromise I wanted 20% my wife wants stock (No Tint) we agreed at 35%.

The guy that I want to do the tint only wants to put 35% on because that is what is legal, there is another shop in town but I haven't heard that good of stuff about there work.

You know what they say "A happy wife is a Happy Life" 35% it is.

Now that you have the 35% what do you think of it? My coworker had 20% on his car and he now has 35% on his truck and likes it better. He was no help when talking to my wife.

My front matches the rear and I think is 18% or 20%. I had the installer do a demo with 35% and looked like crap, IMHO. I'm not legal but haven't had any issues. Makes a world of difference on hot sunny days.

We have 20% on our trucks on the front windows and 20% over factory tint on the back. All vehicles are tinted. A ticket here is cheaper than loosing thousands in tools. you can still see in the front if the sun is just right.
