Opinions: GO!
What do you guys think? Do you think I could have gotten him down more?

I'm not going to lie, i'm a little nervous. Ive wanted into the diesel game for a while now. Sold my 09 Silverado to get something cheaper but fun. And I don't have the bank at the moment to go toying with a 30k CPO diesel just to see if I like it.....
thanks for any input!!
not sure how much more you could have gotten off of the price assuming all the mechanical stuff is sound!
take it for a test drive and beat on it, then check for any leaks thru the degass bottle cap.
with this you will want to get the truck up to full temperature and check the difference between oil and coolant temperatures. if its over 15 F then you have a plugged oil cooler and negotiate accordingly. if your ficm (fuel injection control module) voltage is less than 48 Volts during (+/- a volt or two) then the ficm is getting weak and will fail soon which can take injectors out. check this while starting the truck as well as when its running.
again make sure the coolant reservoir (degas bottle) doesnt have white residue or any signs of leaking as this can be a sign of headgasket issues.
there is lots to learn about the 6.0 especially over in the 6.0 specific forum 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums good luck and if you get it i hope you enjoy it! ive got nearly the exact same truck and i love it!
It's Mineral Gray, and they are a dime a dozen, just as popular as black.

Agree with you that is NOT pueblo gold. Mine is Pueblo Gold so I can vouch for what that looks like. Definitely Mineral Gray in the Ad.
Is mineral gray really common? I'm not sure it is. I see a lot of Exes (relatively speaking) here in SoCal and I hardly ever see mineral gray. I see more pueblo gold than mineral gray, frankly.
Anyone else know if this mineral gray was more common or less common?
To One Sick LX.....that Ex looks nice. Could be a real good truck for you. Good luck, and for what it's worth the price seems reasonable to me.

anyhoo, get a Scangauge and drive it on the highway for 15-20 minutes at about 60 MPH. Check the Engine coolant temp (ECT) vs. the Engine Oil temp (EOT). should have a max difference of 15F. close to 15F or more difference and the motor needs a new oil cooler.
also, floor it several times and basically drive like a 16yr old trying to impress a girl. spin the tires a few times...get her nice and hot and up to temp. a little bit of turbo lag is normal from a stop. but even with those miles and "stock", the 6.0 should be able to easily spin the tires. pop the hood and look for "white" spray or evidence of previous spray on the hood liner, and at the degas bottle...this indicates lifting heads and bad headgaskets.
after you have it nice and hot, pull over real quick and turn the motor off. wait about 1 minute and start it. it should start back up easily. a failure to start, or prolonged start indicates a internal oil leak that will only get worse and leave you stranded.
lastly, with the Scangauge monitor FICM voltage. should never dip below 48 volts. if it does, the FICM is going out and those puppies ain't cheap. You can get them repaired for $200-500.
with the scangauge you'll have to visit the 6.0 section here on FTE for programming codes. the scangauge website has some of the X-codes, but FTE is the best source. It's a great tool (toy). Some of the best $159 I have ever spent. It works on any OBD-II vehicle.
that is a very nice looking rig. I'm jealous of your find. Best of luck with it. I had a 6.0 and loved driving it. Great power, good MPG's, and the 5R110 trans is amazing
Oh, better start saving up for repairs too.
HIGHLY recommend the scangauge and check for ALL signs of trouble BEFORE buying.
The salesman will put pressure on you... don't. First check it all
