I may be going down to Burbank tomorrow or Saturday to look at an '89 Jaguar XKS and was wondering if there is anything in that area worth seeing while down there? Or maybe someone in or near the area would like to have a mini gtg.
This will be the maiden voyage of my car hauling rig, as I finally got the ramps in, and the straps, and the truck is setup with the necessary wiring to power the winch. Still need the air bags installed and the on board compressor, but I am sure the truck can handle the trailer, and car without them.
The car is in excellent condition with the exception of needing some trans mounts, and a fluid and filter change. Only has 159k miles on it, and the body is in excellent shape, and the interior is above average for a vehicle that is 25 years old. Good examples of this car sell for around 5-6k on Autotrader, and excellent examples sell for above $10k. He is asking $1,950 obo and even if I have to spend an extra 2k on it, I still can sell it for a profit. It is black (my favorite color) with a gray interior. And it has the 12 cylinder engine. I would be tempted to keep it myself except it would not get the same gas mileage as the XJ6 I have, and the profit margin is higher with this one than the XJ6.
Thanks for the info ND. Well have to check on those manuals while down there. I have heard about the Lucas Electrical systems and even run into a problem on the XJ6 because it is positive ground instead of negative ground, which made the alarm install more expensive due to all the relays needed.
i sure miss my old 76', but electrical nightmare is a clear understatement to anyone who hasnt worked on a jag haha. And i cant believe your nabbing this one right from under my nose, i have been kind of looking for one of these with the V12 and the BBS wheels. i would prefer a convertable though, like the one in the movie Speed!

The XKS is my favorite Jaguar, and I too like the BBS wheels. This one is older than the one I would have chosen had I been actively looking for one. However, it will have to do for now. Maybe after I build up my reserve fund I can get the year I want.
Yes, I got the Jag, the trip up was uneventful except for the Grapevine, in which I had to drop all the way down to 2nd gear just to do 45mph. I was a bit disappointed in the 460 after that. Once down the other side though, I set the cruise to 60, and stayed there until I hit Fresno.
There it is sitting on the trailer. I did not take too many pictures, I was dog tired. I did stop near Magic Mountain to fill the tanks, and eat at Denny's. that wasted an hour, but I was starving, as I had not eaten anything since 6am this morning. And I knew the truck would not make it back to Fresno without filling the tanks. I don't have the figures with me (they are in the truck which I parked down the street in front of the manager's office) but I know it got better than 10 mpg coming down from Fresno. Did not use the AC the entire time, and of course the trailer was empty. I will try and fill up tomorrow and find out just how bad it was coming back up with the Jag on the trailer.
I am really glad we put that stove in the back of the truck as the Jag used every inch of the trailer. Brayden will be stopping by after church to pick it up today, and is very happy she did not have to make the trip down to So Cal.
