I just got my 2nd shipment of 2 p.s. boxes [total of 4] that I have bought from this company and I cant say enough good things about the r&d they did with these boxes to tighten them up every truck I have put them on steers better than a new truck highly recommended!!
I don't have a single negative thing to say about them, and I don't think I've EVER heard any negative feedback about them from anywhere. I've gotten a couple boxes for my Broncos and a few bendix systems rebuilt. Not the cheapest place, but if you figure those parts will last at least another 30 years...you're money ahead in the end.
I'm on the opposite coast from them, so with shipping included, the average per piece price is right at $350/ea...be that a steering box, power cylinder or control valve. I also send them my stuff, so no core charge.
with the box , core charge , shipping to Canada , gst , ups brokerage charges they run me about $500.00 a box but that's the price I am willing to pay for getting a truck to steer just as good as any thing on the road today. this saved me a lot of time as I was considering a body, drive train swap on to another frame with my 79 f250 lariat reg cab/501 stroker as I fought with that truck for 7 years trieing to figure out why it just didn't steer or feel right now I wont hesitate at all to run with some of these "high speed demons" down the highway same with my f350 s/c with a 12ft 3500 lb camper pulling an 18ft boat mountain driving? no problem just put her in gear & go the customer service has being great also
I recently bought one too that is the 78/79 F250 4wd box. I will say it turns smoother than my old one. Other than that I don't think I'm really impressed. Everything from the column down is new including tie rods and crossover etc. I still have to a good bit of slop in the steering wheel that appears to be in the box when watching it. How tight is everyone else's?
They called me today and said they received it today, rebuilt it and its shipping back out today. Wow! Not exactly cheap and I'm sorry I missed out on some of the group buys. I'm hopeful it will be as good as most all of the feedback I've heard.
that's one thing I also noticed right away is how smooth it turned and my p.s. pump is also very quiet [no whine at all] I also switched out all my plastic pumps that always seemed to leak after sitting the winter between the plastic housing and the pump body for the "old style" 76 and down steel pump its all good now even though I have spent $2000.00 for these well worth the money and in talking with harvey personaly [the owner of redhead] I will get my core charges back plus he will buy all of my old boxes when ever I get my passport and make a trip to seattle.
Any idea how well the red Head 2wd box will turn my 35's on my highboy? Cuz the PO did the conversion and put a 2wd box on it and due to the frame modifications a 4x4 box wont fit or work .... So im stuck with the 2wd and my current one does a suckish job at turning these tires and feels like I have 6"plus of slop... Its also the push me pull you set up not crossover...
