No Forward in Neutral
I have a '66 F100, 4 speed, with 390 motor.
The problem I'm having is when the truck is in neutral I can't push it forward. (with clutch NOT pushed in)
It rolls backwards fine, but not forward. Any idea what is causing this ?? I hate to drive it and possibly make something worse !!
Thanks, Bob
Schoo ... I was thinking it's brake related, but why would it roll backwards but not forward ?? Is it an emergency brake thing maybe. My E.B. engages and disengages fine, or so it seems.
Unfortunately I am under a weight restriction right now, so I can't even take my tires off to look. I want to take it to a car show this weekend, but don't want to damage anything further, if that would be the case.
I guess I was hoping someone might have had this happen to them, and would know exactly the fix

If on jacks do the wheels turn with slight noise from brakes
Does the tranny howl or the diff
Did you ck to see if there was drag in the tranny
You said some thing about the e-brake was some repair done
The self adjuster cables (2A178) are notorious for snapping, the self adjuster screws (2041) are notorious for rusting solid.
If the parking brake cables are adjusted too tight (2628 adjusting rod & 2 nuts), this causes the rear brake shoes to rub on the drums.
My guess is it's the Parking Brake is to tight. I do have a hard time pulling it to engage it. I can get maybe 2 clicks and that's it.
The brakes were redone about 2 years ago by a friend of mine. So I was thinking it was brake related, but didn't really know.
Like I said, I haven't been able to do the "standard" process of elimination, due to a 20 pound weight restriction, since I recently had surgery.
I thank you guys a bunch, and will let let you know the outcome.
~Bob
