Ford VIN Identification
It seems I've inherited an old Ford with a VIN that I don't recognize. I've done my research and it seems everyone has pointed me to this forum.
The VIN is F11CR381193-- 120 T F110 81A F 12A
I haven't a clue on where to start with this. Any help is appreciated!
The truck itself is in pretty great condition. It runs like a top and the body is in good shape- but I'd like to do some tune-up work to it. I don't really need it. Once the vehicle is identified would someone mind telling me if it's worth much? I don't know a thing about Fords...
If it were a Jeep though... (-:
Thanks for any assistance!
God Bless!

289's were not installed in trucks, 1963/68 misc Ford/Merc Passenger Cars, 1965/68 Ranchero's, 1966/68 Bronco's. C VIN engine code that applies to these vehicles: 289 2V
Ford truck VIN engine code C: 1958/64 292 2V // 1966/78 330 2V Medium Duty FT engine installed in 500 and larger series trucks.
1960/79 Passenger Car 11 digit VIN begins with a number that decodes to the year, example: 5R07C123456 ~ 5 = 1965 / R = San Jose Assembly Plant / 07 = Mustang H/T / C = 289 2V / 123456 = 1965 Numerical Sequence of Assembly.
Last 6 digits of a Truck/Bronco/Econoline 11 digit VIN is the serial number, decodes to the month/year these vehicles were assembled.
Candyapple Red (COLOR code T) was introduced in 1966 Passenger Cars, 1969 Trucks. So, previous year cars & trucks could not have been painted this color.
The only red available on 1961/66 trucks as an RPO (Regular Production Order): Rangoon Red, COLOR code J

F11CR381193 / W.B. 120 / COLOR: T / MODEL: F110 / BODY: 81A / TRANS: F / AXLE: 12A / Omitted: MAX GVW LBS: 05600 / CERT NET HP: 135 / RPM: 3600
Here's the correct decode, as garbz2 typed a few goofs.
F11 = F100 4WD
C = 292 2V
R = San Jose CA Assembly Plant.
381193 = 1963, assembled February 1963.
120" Wheelbase. Does not decode to a pickup. There is no way to know by the VIN or any codes stamped on the Warranty Plate what "back of cab" equipment (if any) these trucks came with.
T = Sandshell Beige.
F110 = F100 4WD, 5,600 lbs. GVWR
81A = Conventional Standard Cab. 1963 was the only year that the BODY code decodes to the cab type/style.
F = Borg Warner T-98 4 Speed Manual Transmission.
12A: 12 = Ford 9" Rear Axle / 3.89-1 / No Limited Slip / 3,300 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity / A = Spicer (Dana) 446F Front Driving Axle / 3.92-1 / No Limited Slip / 3,000 lbs. Front Axle Capacity.
5,600 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. This is not the gross registered weight. Rating: Actual weight of the truck, any passengers and/or cargo should not exceed the GVW
135 net HP @ 3,600 RPM
Depends on too many variables. But you can do a Clist search and see what they are going for in your area.
If it is solid, a safe daily driver with refreshed hoses and belts, no real issues.......... In Northern Oklahoma, I would put it on Craigslist at a high starting price of $4000 as the 4x4 is harder to come by and it is hunting season.
