I'm in the process of wiring my 1946 Ford pickup hot rod using a 1987 F150 headlight switch. I picked it up at a local wrecking yard (they are in my price range) & it has the plug with about 6" of wire but I have no idea where any of them go & have not been able to find one on the internet. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this or know where all these wires go? The switch plug has 9 wires coming out of it. Heavy gauge black w/orange, all the rest are about 18 or 16 gauge: orange w/black, yellow w/black, tan w/white. brown, green w/yellow, blue w/red, red w/yellow, black w/pink. The part number is:E7BT-11654-AC. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Bottom left diagram shows the wires going to the switch.
The picture on the bottom right shows the back side pin out.
The descriptions below are how Ford used the headlight switch.
Pin (B1) Black/Orange wire is a 16 awg fusible link. 12 volts hot all the time.
Output is Pin (H) Red/Yellow goes to Hi Lo beam dimmer switch and then
to headlights.
Pin (B2) Tan/White wire 12 volts hot all the time. Fused 15 amps.
Pin (R) Brown wire gets 12 volts from the Tan/White wire when
headlight switch is in Park or Head used for parking lamps.
Pin (IGN) Yellow/Black wire. 15 amp fused 12 volts when Ignition switch
is in Accessories or Run passes 12 volts to Pin (DN).
Pin (DN) Orange/Black wire gets the 12 volts when the headlight switch is off.
Used for the factory radio.
Pin (I) Light Blue/Red wire gets 12 volts from (B2) when the headlight
switch is in Head or Park. 12 volts goes thru the dimmer resistor. Used
for Dash Backlighting.
Pin (D1) Light Green/Yellow wire 12 volts for dome light
Pin (D2) Black/Pink wire gets 12 volts when dome light switch is closed
used for the dome light bulb.
Thanks for the wiring diagram, I've been looking in all the wrong places for 2 days. This will greatly help in wiring my truck, I'm really anxious to get it running. Now if the Ford car forum guys can respond with a wiring diagram for the steering column mounted ignition switch from a 1973 Galaxie.
I've had to use what I could find at the local wrecking yards & actually found 1 about 25 miles from home that has some older Fords from the 70s & 80s. It's the same place I got the front clip from a Mustang II for my truck.
Thanks again.
