It's the little things

Im starting a different thread on this because I can't find an answer.
As most of you I just swapped a '79 front end into my '74.
Love it.
The steering is awesome.
The brakes WERE awesome.
Drove it for a week after the swap, no problems, awesome brakes.
Because the lines weren't up to snuff, I pulled it down one day and bent up a new front line to match my rear line.
The ONLY thing I touched was the front upper brake line.
Put the new beautifully bent one on.................only the rears work. WTF.
Ok what's the prob.
I measured the OD and ID of the old line and the new line.
OD same.
ID different
Ok, maybe the new line ( which had a smaller ID ) can't move enough juice to make the calipers work.
Swapped the old line back on.
Nothing.
Check for leaks, none.
Did my mc fail?
Bought a new mc and installed.
Nothing.
Yes it was bench bled.
I can pump it and get pressure. If I hold the pedal it stays up ( no leaks ).
When I let it go wait and try again, nothing.
Pulled the cover and watch the mc inside doing the same thing.
When I let, the pedal off after pumping, a load of fluid comes rushing back in.
The whole brake line system is solid no rubber.
I know it's something stupid and maybe I'm to close.
Hoping you all are a step or two back and can think.
I drinking a bottle of wine and closing up shop for the day.

Did you pull the pin on the combination valve while you bled the brakes? It needs to be held out the whole time.

Brand new Wilwood unit, rear only prop valve. Rear works fine.
That's what's driving me nuts.
The fronts are just straight.

Just for grinns , try blocking off the rears . See what happens . I have seen issues before similar to this . Try it to test for bypassing master ,ect . And , I trust you have all the air out . So blocking the rears can help diagnose .

Well this is truly a head scratcher!

I understand the new prop valve is installed between the dist. block's rear output and the rear drums. The front line comes out of the MC, to the dist. block, and then a single flex line down to the pumpkin where it splits to feed each disc. It's the hard line from the MC to the dist.block that was last fabbed.

Ya didn't by chance use a different port(s) on the dist. block for the fronts? Any other reconfigurations 'while you were there'?

I just came in from looking at my 73/74 still with 4-wheel drums. Ya know, it has a brake warning switch on the dist. block but howz that thing supposed to work? Same as a typical prop valve with a sliding piston to actuate? Just a thought.

Yeah, I'm sure there's no air.
I can pump and hold and they're good.
But let it go, wait 2 then push again and nothing.
I know that should tell me something but can't figure it at this point.
I've had 3 different mc's on it now and same symptoms.
That should tell me it's not the mc but nothing changed and it worked for a week.

the drum master does not have enough volume to properly operate calipers .

hmmm
Since I know the mc and the rest is ship shape.
That distro block may need a look for function.
It is a drum / drum block. Wonder if there is a disc / drum pn thats different ( Mike? ).
I still go back to the fact that it worked for a week though.

Using a '79 disc/drum mc connected to a '79 disc front and '74 rear drums.

Welcome to my nightmare
I'm thinking sleeping on it and check the distro block after work tomorrow.
Keep thinking I'm missing a sign.

I'm with HIO Silver. Take another look at the dist. block . Possible the extra volume from the disc master is tricking it . Thats all I got .
