Horsepower
But since you’re in the brawling mood. Here’s my opinion.
I think the big three have forgotten what most guys buy a diesel for in the first place. They (the big three) have been caught up in HP wars.
Most men driving for a living and honestly depending on their vehicle for their livelihood do not care about ¼ mile times or how fast it drives up a hill. The only thing on their mind is “will it go up and down that hill safely everyday, last for a while, and not cost an arm and a leg to maintain and operate”.
I think Ford has gotten caught with their pants down so to speak on the new 6.0L. The International site kind of gives it away. The 7.3L is going to lose its ability to keep up with the new emission standards, the 6.0L was built to meet them. The 6.0L platform should have been built sooner and tested quite a bit more.
Ford has a problem and if they don’t fix it soon…
this is a little off subject but i've seen reference to it too many times to remain quiet. no offense but that hooking a chain between them and seeing who can pull who has absolutly nothing to do with power unless one of those vehicles does not have enough to turn it's tires. as long as both vehicles have enough power to turn it's tires (i would say that all 3/4 and 1 ton trucks from the big three will do this even with standard v-8s) then it is a traction game and nothing else. i have personally watched a mid '80s chevy drag an '02cummins backward with it's tires going forward. he drug that dodge backward so fast i thought he was going to shift gears. that chevy had a bone stock 350. before you dodge fellas jump on the war path i've also watched a dodge 360 drag my buddies psd and a f150 with 302 pull a 8.1L chevy. my point is in each of these cases the winning truck was underpowered compared to the truck they were dragging but they had more traction because of tire and suspention mods as well as weight. so please don't say that one truck is more powerfull than another because it pulled it backwards.
hey wxboy

But remember Pickuptruck.com had this test and it said yadda yadda about Chevy and the same about Dodge because the Ford won.
BTW, a 2 wheel drive vehicle is a 4x2, not 2x4. A 2x4 is a piece of lumber.
. If the big 3 are so caught up in HP wars, why do we have so many mods- chips, exhaust, air systems, etc.- designed just to increase 'stock' HP/torque? Why doesn't one of the big 3 put all these mods in their stock truck and win the "war"?
If you tell someone that they could have had a better truck with a better warranty if they went to a Dodge dealership, you would probably be telling the truth. But still, this is a Ford trucks forum and anytime you mention the word "Dodge" in here you are going to have your post deleted from now on. So anyone who comes here looking for information on which HD truck to buy is out of luck...because we'll never be allowed to tell them anything other than "BUY THE FORD MAN!" whether it's right or wrong.

dman, you obviously have a hard time accepting the fact that the Power Stroke has finished ahead of both Dodge and Chevy in several comparisons. These were real world tests, not a comparison of HP and torque numbers from the factory.
