Oil pressure ?
Hi fellas i am having oil pressure issues (or the lack thereof) on my freshly rebuilt 390, tried the old pump vs new pump same pressure which is 20psi cold and drops within the minute or so to 10psi and that's with a real high idle, even at 1500-2000 rpm the pressure will not go over 20 psi and if i throttle it up it wont go over 20 psi, and i am using gaskets for the pump and sump tube, even took the dizzy out to try to prime, still the same results the only ting i can think of is if he didn't plug one of the oil gallery's

sounds like a galley plug got left out , there's a bunch of them under intake , most common to miss is the one by dizzy it's recessed .

Was this changed over to adjustable rocker arms was? What oil wt. you using?..orich

non adjustable rockers, and im usin 15 /40

i know the ones under the intake are there, but the other by the dizzy, how far recessed is that one, and is it right inline with the lifter gallery .

if you pulled dizzy it's actual in that hole facing lifters

Mike so if i prime my oil with a drill motor should i see oil pouring out by the dizzy drive gear area

well i checked the gallery and there is oil coming out the gallery, at least i found a problem

yup ! turn on your kitchen sink , now turn on your shower and kitchen sink . open galley will cut your pressure big time .

ya that's very true, well got that gallery blocked still very low oil pressure , thinkin the gallery by the timing chain might be open too, i will look into that tomorrow, gettin a lil late need ta relax b4 gettin some rest for the night
