Trying to find the most cost effective option. All of the internals look good. I need a new pump, a new case, and a new torque converter. I havent tried looking yet, but anybody knew where someone may find a decent case? I have an older one with a PTO drive on it.. Not sure if it has always been that way or what. It is also in a 4x4 F-150. Contemplated the idea of using a 2WD 5 speed transmission and selling my tcase, but it seems like it would be a lot of work to do..
Yeah id rather not pay that... Which is why I am asking about it. If my case wasnt damaged I can get a complete rebuild kit, band, and filter kit for 130.00. A torque for another 100.00.
I will have to do some searching.. Hard to do on weekends when places are closed though. Dont want to put a lot of money into this truck any more. I am on the verge of selling it. The mileage isnt worth the cost.
I have no idea... Powerful truck? I mean.. It is a Ford.
I will be scouring junkyards. I just checked CL and ebay. Found one on CL out of a 77 Bronco for 125.00 but it has a different pattern. The bolt pattern crap is a wrench in the mixture.. Why cant it be easy? Buy a case or a full trans (for cheap!!) and be done with it.
I wish I could afford to put money into this truck.
I bought a "good" c6 4x4 a couple years ago. It is the bolt pattern for the 302, 351, and 300-6. No torque converter. I never used it so i'm not sure if it is good or not. I would be willing to sell it if you want to make a road trip... PM me if you are interested.

Thanks for the offer bashby. I am going to try and find something local if I can. Just doing a quick search, its a 10 hour round trip. Plus, I only want to spend around 100.00 for a case.. which may be difficult to do but today is the day I got it out so I have only had a day to ponder it. Id pay more if I knew it was a solid transmission, but even then 300.00 would be my top limit. My truck is 25 and not a daily driver. Gotta draw a line somewhere, ya know?
