Another Starting Problem

Ok, I have a 1990 Mustang GT EFI engine in a 1951 Ford Truck. It's been sitting for about 1.5 years while I 've been doing a body off paint job. It ran great when I parked it. Now when I try to start it , it just turns over & want start. If I squirt some gas in the intake it will fire up on the first lick & will start first lick all day, Once it is warmed up. But if I try the next day, Same thing I have to squirt some fuel in the intake. So far I've put a new fuel pump on it, a new adj fuel pressure Reg set at 43 with the Vac line off & around 38 with the Vac line on. It was doing the same thing before I changed the PSI Reg. Any Ideas????

Thanks Charles

Are you running the Mustang computer and wiring harness, or an aftermarket one?

It's a Street & Performance massair harness with a stock mustang computer.

Ok, I'd get a book for the Mustang, either a Chiltons or a Haynes, and then check the harness you have against the wiring diagram. I would suspect that there is a wire missing between the computer and fuel pump relay.

I checked all the wiring & cleaned all the grounds. Still only starts when I prime it.

Is the fuel pump coming on when you turn the key to on, without starting the engine. It should come on for about 3 seconds.

Yes, It comes on for around 3 sec then cuts off. When the engine starts the pump runs continuously.

Thanks for you reply

Check the injector signal with a noid light. This will tell you if the injectors are firing while the engine is cranking.
