tachometer not working

I ahve a 92 250 with a 460. The tach is not working right. When the engine starts the minimum it reads is 2500. When you get on the gas it will pickup aget 2500 and seem to work correctly. When the engine is off it drops to 0 again. Any suggestions?

Sounds like it is set for something other than 8 cyl.
Maybe a 6 cyl setting.

Is it an original tach or aftermarket ?

My factory Bronco tach does the exact same thing. Anyone have any ideas?

Both of them are internal to the tach - I think both you'll have to buy replacements.

Yup, that's what the ford shop manager I talked to this week told me. Ford no longer stocks the tach so I guess I gotta find a salvage yard or something....
Thanks for the reply...
