Ordered outer door skins from macs for my 40 half ton, also ordered door inner bottoms from drake. The mac inner bottoms looked strange in the pictures on the website.
Very happy with the inner bottoms from drake, nice heavy gauge steel and look to be correct.
Not so happy with the skins from macs, they are very thin (24-26 gauge I think), the raised edges around the hinges are rough and uneven, and the panels are covered with surface rust. I had been planning on ordering most of the sheet metal from macs but now im leary.
Anybody have any preferences? does most all of it come from one supplier? I plan on ordering my box from northern classic trucks, anybody know how they are? I need most all the steel for the bottom of the cab.
The bottom of the doors in my COE were rusted out. So about 4 years ago I bought replacement metal for the doors from Northern Classic Trucks. They fit perfectly and I had a nice conversation with a person there. I think he may have been the owner. It sounded like he got into the business because he needed quality sheet metal for his own projects.
So my limited experience with Northern Classic Trucks was very positive.
