Pesky squeal.
It's more of a chirp, it goes up and down with the RPM's it seems as well.
I did a full tune up, replaced the waterpump and temp sensor, helped a little and I replaced the belt with just a standard one helped out great and got rid of the chirp.
Well the chirp is back only after 2 months or so. I think it does it more when it's colder, maybe when there is more moisture in the air. It'll chirp real loud at startup and for a while but it gradually quiets down and by the time the engine is hot it seems to be gone. Or maybe I just get used to it by the time I get home or where i'm going and don't notice it. I have a few things I wanna try out. I think my air pump pulley some noise when I spun it by hand when I had the belt off, i'll have to check that out with a stethoscope or something and i wanna put a few drops of oil on my idler pulley bearing/bushing in hoping i can rule it out. I assume it's all factory minus what I replaced. I don't really know, I made the mistake of buying it off an idiot.
Before I go ***** nilly replacing things or pulling on that or this, I want to get a few more opinions here.
My idler and tensioner are both whisper quite and smooth, but my alternator has a slight noise to it when i free spin it and I also get a peep out of my smog pump. Anyway of testing to see which one? I'm gonna try and get a hold of a buddies stethoscope and try that. New reman alternator is cheap, but the smog pump is gonna run me about 80 bucks. My alternator works fine so i don't really want to replace it.
