c6 torque converter
i have a1956 f100 with a 351 w and a c6 auto trans. i think i have the wrong converter becouse it stalls on a steep driveway it run very good on the stright a way .can someone tell me what size or number converter i need? thanks richard

It may not be the wrong converter, it may just be broken. There are internal parts that can fail (lock up) that cause just the lind of problems you describe. Put the truck in gear, put your foot on the brakes (hard), and rev it up with a tach connected. Note the RPM it dies at, that is the stall speed. Should be around 2,000 RPM +/-.

thanks N B the trans was rebuild and the converter was out of a box which could be new or rebuild not sure the c6 shifts smooth and easy .i dont have a tach so ill ask my friend to hook it up and try it your way thanks richard p/s the problem started the first day i took it home from the shop
