What scanner did you use?

Does the CE light go off when you are able to keep it running using the go-pedal?

Do you have a spare cps you can change out? do you have a gauge to check the fuel pressure?

Autozone's scanners can't read our trucks. You need a Snap-On MT2500, AeroForce Interceptor, DP-Tuner Infinity, or AutoEnginuity software on a laptop. If the CE light is on, there is a code.

Your post is correct . CPS & or fuel won't set the light . Most likely oil . Is the C Case full ?

CPS very much CAN set the light. It's not an "all or nothing" part. There's at least a code P0340 and P0344, both related to CPS faults. When a CPS is faulty, it may or may not run the engine, and it may or may not set a code. In any event, you're groping in the dark until you can get the code(s).

Update, the Diesel shop checked my truck and said I must have got water somehwere on the engine that wasnt suppose to get wet when I washed the engine off,as everything checks out fine and the truck starts right up now that its dry.The shop said they dont exactly what not to get wet on the engine,so I need some of you here on this site to give some info on what not to get water on and or things to cover.I know guys that wash there engines all the time and have no issues, also semi trucks get there engines cleaned regularly.
Please give me some advise here...

What i thought was my cps killing my truck and setting my CEL turned out to be my fuel heater in the fuel filter housing shorting out,i changed my cps for nothing because it still did it and i went and unplugged that fuel heater and my problem was solved,it led me to think the cps was bad because the codes pulled up for it,maybe check that fuel heater im not saying its going to be the problem but it fixed mine good luck to ya

It was probably the IDM that got wet. It's the silver box on the inside of the driver's side fender. It has a vent that can let water in; sometimes it can even come in from the edge of the hood. You actually dodged a bullet getting it to start again; when the IDM gets wet, it seems to be about a 50/50 chance that you won't have to replace it.
