Hi,I will soon be changing my 96 turbo diesel over from a e40d to a zf 5,my question is what valair horsepower rated clutch do I need,my truck is all stock, later I might upgrade the turbo if it ever goes bad but I have no intentions of doing anymore upgrades beyond that.I would like to have a little more heavy duty clutch than the factory one,but I dont want any problems by going to a heaver clutch.
Would putting the 500 hp rated clutch in my truck hurt anything,I was thinking by going that route that the clutch would last longer since it would be rated for a higher hp than my truck.your thoughts please?
Also why cant a auto cross-member be fabricated to use for the zf 5 speed swap.
I have the Valair kevlar/ceramic 500hp rated clutch in my truck. I really like it, but it is a grabby ****. For backing my trailer in I just use 4low to keep from having to slip it.
I decided to go with the 400 hp clutch kit,the one with the brass added to it NMU70263-01.I still need to know why I cant alter my cross-member to fit the zf 5.

Good choice, love mine. I would advise to order directly from Valair. The outfit I purchased my kit from drop shipped from Valair and it took longer to receive.

if you can do it...do it! Anything is possible with time ,materials and enough talent.
if you are comfortable and competent then save some cash. I dont know your skill level but you are asking so the motivation is there.
Iirc the auto bolts on the out side of the frame and loops down under.and the zf is inside the rails and is multi piece.i would get the zf in and hold the auto up and compare and go from there. i have not ever compared.
