Question WELDING ON FRAMES ?

I hear a lot of talk about weld in IFS and weld in 4 link rear suspension systems as well as welding cracked frames and manufacturing of engine mounts ,trans mounts etc. I am curious about what happens when theses trucks go for an inspection prior to getting your insurance and registration ?

No inspection required in MT, not even smog thank God.

However if the rat rodders keep building such unsafe heaps of dung it could happen....

Most hotrods and classics are built and maintained with more care than most of the cars on the road (I hope)......

Would depend on your location. In most states in the US only the specific inspectable items and specifications are reason for failure. Construction and modifications are not usually inspectable unless it put an inspectable item outside of specification.

In pa to be completely legal you have to get an enhanced inspection done even if its just a motor swap, although i doubt everybody follows that rule.

We have a fairly rigorous inspection process for restorations , vehicles older than 10 years and vehicles being transferred from province to province . It is a pain but it does keep the idiots with an old buzz-box that can barely strike an arc from killing innocent people .
