Now, about the piston. All the pistons in this engine look just like that. The cracking is down into the aluminum. This was in an engine I pulled from the scrapyard. The truck was quite customized including a banks turbo installed in a truck that came factory with a turbo. I can only guess that the pump was turned way up and they liked to roll smoke. The exhaust tip seemed quite covered in carbon as well.
This is my engine to rebuild. Factory turbo block. I'm thinking I need new pistons......
I just am in the middle of a factory turbo build. Went 020 over. It's a 123 million serial number. Turbos started at 116 I think. Not sure how I'm gonna play with the heads injectors and pump yet but open to suggestion. I like the idea of methyl injection Cuz who wants to add an intercooler.
