Hi all, I have a 2008 Mariner with the CD4E, a few years back it developed a leak in the transmission cooler... common problem, about a year later the cooler started leaking again so instead of replacing the factory cooler I just added an hayden cooler and took the AC hex/trans cooler out of the loop. For three years, I never had an issue with the trans. Well now the car went being my wife's to mine and I hooked up my scan gauge 2 from my old F350. Anyways, what is considered normal operating temperature for a CD4E. Mine typically runs in the 160-180* F range which seems pretty normal but I know some transmissions like their fluid on the warmer side (ie. the 5R110). TIA!
Ambient temps between 80-97 (yeah 97 degrees in September south of Boston, nothing right about that!) and this car will never tow, I will borrow my fathers f350 (my old truck) if I need to so that. Yes it is a stacked plate air to fluid cooler. It is a mix of city and highway driving.
curious- you make this post on every website- what have you learned-
what do you want to hear- you don't have faith in a Pro Mechanic- you slide around on the internet- you seem to need someone to walk & hold your hand

Yes based on a sample size of two, you are correct I have posted this on every site out there. On the escape forum, you were the only one kind enough to reply.

What pro-mechanic? I was the one that bypassed the factory cooler and installed the hayden cooler. It was pretty straight forward.

I am not totally sure I follow you on this one, I merely wish to hear what other's experiences with the CD4E in this application. Especially considering I am running a non-OEM part in a fairly critical location protecting an expensive part of the vehicle. I just want to make sure I am within OEM operating spec of the transmission.
Ya gotta take 2escapefmt with a grain of salt, he likes to post every once in a while and be less than considerate. But I guess when you are a pro at something you can look down on the rest of the world that way.
The actual ignore function in the control panel works great.
The temps seem pretty good to me. I was expecting something just a bit over 200F, so to get what you have is good, IMO.
Tell me more about the ignore function. I've only been posting here for a while, so don't know all the features. Each BB program has something different, and I don't feel the need to learn all their foibles. Just enough to try to inform and encourage.

OH, and LEARN!!!
I never ever heard of the "ignore" function till I joined the GreenHybrid Forum were users would actually post that they had added a certain user to their list. It blocks posts from a user that you add to your list but "not" quotes from that user that someone else posts.
GreenHybrid had a poll started asking members if they wanted a certain user banned from the forum. It went along for sometime before it got locked by a moderator, unsure if was ever deleted.
Some even threatened lawsuits due to slander because someone's information was said to be incorrect.
Which hayden did you install? I was poking around on the web, and noted several sizes available. The B&M series was getting very good reviews, similar in design to the Hayden with 'stacked plates'.
I don't tow, and don't do a lot of stop & go nor mountain driving, but figured adding a cooler to a well functioning transmission should extend the usable life significantly.

Tomw... Wptski nailed the ignore n the head. If you go to the control panel you can add people to it and you won't see their posts. You can remove them and add them again if needed.
You can see that they posted to the thread but not red what they posted unless someone quotes them. Works great! Unless you're ignoring me...

That is what I figured, 160-180 seems to be pretty good from most generic transmission resources. Didn't know if the CD4E was a special case, doesn't appear so.

I believe it is this guy here...but not totally sure. Got it at a U-haul for 50-60 bucks. I was originally hoping to use the factory 4R100 cooler I had from when I swapped in the 6.0 trans cooler but I broke it. If your factory cooler isn't leaking I don't see the need to change it but like I said I was tired of the factory cooler leaking every year.
sure like to know how you all are getting accurate Transmission Fluid temperature- my scan gauge says it's not supported thru the OBII connection on my 08 & 09 Escape
enjoyed reading your posts on how and who to ignore-

What are you using for a scan gauge?
My Scan Gauge 2 seems to work fine with the CANSF codes.
Using a 3 or 4 year old SG-II on a '09 for TFT compliments of CarlD/DesertDog's knowledge. Values below 32F are weird numbers, how it on yours? TFT info wasn't available at LL site back then.

LL has done a pretty good job of updating codes... I hear they can read the rail pressure on a CR cummins applications now. Wish it could have done that when I had one...would have saved $200 in gauges!
