How do I know if they are good or the right ones? Seems it would be around $500 from the "recyclers".
The only way to make sure they are correct is to get them while they are still on the truck so you can check the sticker on the cab. Don't trust ANY numbers on the springs themselves, and don't trust any recycler if they don't have the sticker info from the truck. I went through three of them here and none had proof they were correct...the 4th had 3 trucks all with springs still on them and the cab sticker intact.
I guess I'll need new u bolts. Can anyone tell me which ones to get? That is something I got confused about.
When I did my V/Modded B, I just measured my current U bolt and added the appropriate height (for me, the added leaf plus another 1/4" for the different spacers). If you are swapping out the blocks for higher ones, add the difference. Remember, go too long vs. too short - a 4" cutting wheel will let you shrink them up. Spring shops will bend them for you on site - I think they charged me $14 per bolt when I did mine.
It sure would be nice to have you make a specific thread detailing your suspension mods. Yup, it sure would be reaaaalllllly nice to be able to link to a specific, dedicated thread where your spring mods are delineated with specific details regarding what you had, what you did, and the end results. Yup, really nice indeed!
To the OP, Tom already stated it, but I wanted to make sure you saw his response so I'm gonna repeat it: B codes can come with or without the top overload spring he used to mod his X codes.
If ordering from the dealership, you'll have to specify which one you want. If getting used, you'll have to check to make sure it has the overload spring.

OK...let's see full disclosure here though - you did X codes and had no idea you already had lift shackles on...so before you sell him the X code route and lift numbers, be sure you tell him what you had prior.
awesome guys. got lots of pointers and I agree with Stewart. and I must now quote him

Lmao.
anyways. I have to recruit some help for the swap and try to get those springs. I guess missing the B codes will depend on whether or not it has the overload but I'm not going to be running around everywhere looking for it. I'll just use whatever I get.
I agree! And all thanks to the good people of FTE!!!!!
Hey guys. Just picked up the springs from the junk yard.
X codes had 110k miles and C codes had 60k miles. The rears did have the top overload which is quite nice as I did want to mod the X codes.
HOWEVER... I was not able to get the 3.75" F350 tapered blocks. They dont have that in their shelves/racks and the open yard only had 1 F350 which didnt have the blocks.
I guess I'll have to order it from Tousley ford maybe? Anybody know the part number? I tried looking something similar in their site by the part diagram but $100 for both? ouch. Will it hurt if I dont use the longer blocks?
Can I just add longer shackles to the rear if the stock 2" isnt enough?
