Who applied the tint? Did you pay a shop to do it?

Around here, many shops guarantee their tint to be street legal, and if you get a ticket they will replace it with a higher level tint for free. So might be worth checking with whoever applied it.

So what did you bother posting up about? You asked for advice, and when you didn't like it decided to go ahead with your original plan?

Whatever floats your boat dude. I don't like lots of laws around here, but I follow them because I'm far too cheap to pay for noncompliance.

Yea that's the spirit! I'd be be hard nosed about it too.

Seriously tho, I like the previous guys idea about going to the tint shop and greasing their palms a lil bit with a few dead president and getting them to sign a paper saying that they removed your tint.

Wait. Give me a minute...I'm trying to work up some sympathy...

Nope, sorry, just couldn't do it.

I think laws against dark tint are good and I support them. It's just common sense, but too many people are lacking in that area, so we need laws.

I agree with the laws about tinted windows, A cop in NH was killed last year when a car had limo tints and the guy in the back seat shot him with a shot gun out the rear side window. The officer never stood a chance because he could not see what was going on inside the car. I want my windows tinted but i will not go above the legal amount here in MA which is i believe 35%. Personally if you want tint i would remove the current one and get the legal amount put on, you will spend money upfront but in he end you will save money from not receiving all the tickets. I dont know how much it is for tinting windows in VA but around here its $200 for all 4 side windows which isn't much more than your current ticket.

Guys with dark tints usually think, "I can see just fine, so the law is stupid". What they are missing is that it is important that others can see you. Not just your car, but YOU. A good defensive driver watches other drivers faces and body language. You might not even realize you are doing it, but you are. This will often warn you about what the other driver is going to do. If I can't see the other driver, we are both less safe.

Screw that, I dont want you gawking at me nor do I want the sun shining on me or heating up my truck. It's a shame some idiots have to shoot cops and ruin it for the rest of us but 99.9999 percent of tinted Window cars aren't shooting anyone. I think tint laws are dumb and little by little we are losing all our freedoms and it's sad. Land of the free my ***, we have more stupid laws than anywhere else and most of them are retarded like this one.

The real shame is how ignorant your view point is. Bills point is very valid. My ambulance has some hard to see (not quite blind) spots. Locking eyes with a driver is the best way for me to tell them I'm coming to them. Also when I am trying to clear an intersection to go through on a red I want to see the whites of their eyes before I cross in front of another driver.

A better defensive driver does not rely on his own interpretations of or assumptions about other drivers' faces and body language or "locking eyes" or whatever. They could be looking right past you, but you think they see you because you get the idea they're locking eyes with you.

You're "locking eyes" with people through the windshield, right? Not through the back of their head? I don't believe the OP's ticket was for a tinted windshield.

You clearly don't understand the reason for the law, oh wait, your post shows you do....so you are just ignorant?

I would love to see you walk up to a car, in the middle of the night, by yourself in the middle of nowhere and have no idea who or what is in the vehicle. Then tell me the law is stupid or as you call it, retarded...of course, using that tells me all I need to know.
