powder coating?
Has anyone had parts powder coated? I was considering while I take my differential covers off my 2004 f250 4x4 having them done and maybe the drive shaft. Does anyone know what kind of money I can expect to pay for this?

A lot of the cost of powder coated is prep time. The metal must be pristine, which means sand-blasting immediately prior to coating. If your parts are rough, they will take a lot of prep by the shop. That said, it's a good process, I used to get a lot of stuff I would normally nickle-plate coated with a chrome look coating.

What about the balance of the driveshaft and increased weight from the powder?
Also instead of powder on the diff covers how about a high temp paint or 2008 style cover?
Either way post before and after pics for us to see.

I had all of the brackets powder coated when I lifted my truck. They turned out really nice and are holding up great so far. It was not very expensive, but the parts were all pretty small. For something underneath the truck I think powder coat is the way to go, paint is just going to get chipped off from all the dirt and road debris.
