So I just found out this is the big block carb even though its the 1.08 venturi. Will I be able to use this on my 300 or is it gonna be to much carb for the motor? Any help would be appreciated its already rebuilt and has a 1 year warranty plus the guys is gonna tune it once I get the all the add ons on the truck.
Motor has Petronix the OFFY DP EFI exhaust manifolds can get the Chevy rockers to get a little more lift if needed and the ypipe to a 2.5 to a 40 series flowmaster. Its the t-18 tranny that I plan on changing for a C6 I have just gone through.
Ford drilled additional air bleeds in that carb to increase flow over the small block model. After having played with 4 4100's off and on for a few years, I would say to bite the bullet and fork out the cash and buy yourself a NEW carb.
The 4100 has been around since the sixties!! How many times do you think it has been rebuilt, booster swapped, parts changed so that the original specs for tuning it don't even hold true. Ask yourself: Do you want a carb that is so so, good enough but not quite right, and needs to be worked on every few weeks, or do you want one that is dead on and purrs for years? The answer is in your wallet.
I am trying to save you a lot of wasted time and money. The cost of a new carb may seem like a lot now, but it is a one time thing. Whereas a used 4100 will cost you untold man hours and cash, and always flow for an engine that is 25% larger than yours. I would say to sell it on ebay and use the cash to help off set the cost of a new carb.
Good luck. I know this post may seem harsh, but I am trying to save you time and $. k
