I was in a discussion with a guy the other day about (what else?) Ford trucks, and he told me he had an EFI 300-equipped F-150 that he used as a work truck out in Tejas that had over 750,000 miles on it. Now, I know these are great motors, and the guy that told me this is, in my opinion, a trustworthy fella, but I've gotta admit, 3/4 of a million miles shocked me a little. So, my question is, what's the most miles anyone knows of on one of these motors? I mean, just how far will this sucker go???
In Venezuela I had heard about some engines running over 200.000 miles, it is very good for us, but 750.000 ???? what kind of oil or additives is this guy using?? how mani times has rebuild that engine??? 3 times???
I foolishly didn't ask him all the details I'd like to ask him now. I know the guy pretty well, and would consider him an honest fella not prone to exaggerations. I'll have to dig for more details next time I see him.
we've had a few threads for highest mileage, the numbers are amazing. Especially because these trucks are not designed for simple highway and around town driving, they haul stuff and get stuck in the dirt (well mine does at least) and they still gooooo
When I pulled my engine from the junkyard, I didn't power up the truck's cluster to check the mileage, but from the general condition of it (before the wreck), I guessed it had 60-80Kmi on it. I've since put at least 250Kmi on it; maybe as much as 350K. It's hard to keep track with all the speedo changes I've done.
