Alright please excuse my very bad photoshopping but I had an idea today in ... well math class. My grille inserts are "subpar" and I was just wondering if anyone did a custom one with mesh instead of the slots. I threw together a picture and was just wondering if anyone else liked the look. Personally I;'m undecided.
EDIT: I should specify that this isn't my truck, just the closest thing to mine and the frontmost view I found on google images
Meh.. what you dont' see is all the junk on the core support and the core support itself. To me it looks naked.
Consider going the other direction with only the portion in front of the radiator exposed to oncoming air. Use the area inboard of the headlights for round driving or fog lights... OR, even more custom is to install another pair of 7-inch headlights (aftermarket with 100-watt bulbs) inboard of the headlights.' Photoshop that!
Well I have that all fogged black, and I figured if I put some kind of plastic sheeting from the edge to where the core support hit it would look okay. I was just kind of making a proof of concept before I decided if I liked it or not and went feet first

I believe someone on the forum was making a shelby "what if" on a dentside....I think they did something similar.
that is interesting! ya know, change the F-O-R-D to M-E-R-C-U-R-Y and viola!! an M-100/250/350 .....make the dual headlights retractable like the Cougar and maybe leather buckets
The only problem I have with keeping the stock headlight buckets on mine is the fact that mine are all bent to hell, and I really don't have the fifty bucks to buy new ones.
If a cougar look is desired I may be steps ahead by just using LMC billet covers in black.
I'll play around a little bit more here after school just to get a few more ideas out

You know that's an interesting idea. I think it would have to be concealment, like tambour door system (ala roll-top desk), than a flip-over design due to the relative lack of space to rotate 7-inch headlights. Fabrication would definitely be less complicated.
Buckets? Well, they ain't leather but we can check it off the list... found'em last weekend.
Anyways I did some looking, and the main reason for a mesh grille was so I could do some through grille ram air. There is enough space to do so, so the question really is down to wanting to go mesh, or wanting to modify a set of stock grilles to hold a ram air "scoop"
Killgore, would the factory grill look good if the second set of lights was right next to the original set? Maybe a "billet" style grill with aluminum strips and quad lights?
