transmission question

I have a 96 f150 5.0 4wd short bed with a automatic e40d transmission. My transmission went out on me and I'm have a hard time finding one for a 96. Would I be able to pull a tranny form a 90-96 bronco and put it in?

It needs to be a 95-96 for the solenoid pack to connect. I don't know about mechanical, someone will jump in.

My bronco is a 93. When my tranny(e40d) went out 2 years ago, my local junk yard had one out of 95 f150. Everything was exact. I hope this helps
