my 00 f250 has the air bag light on all the time. it does not flash it just stays solid. it was like this when i bought the truck @3 months ago. also the passenger air bag switch does not light up when you use it. is this causing my airbag light to stay on? thanks for any help

 

I had 1 on for a long time. You should be able to have the code checked for free, they even turned the light off for me with the tester at the tranny shop. Makes it hard to sell it also.

 

A bad deactivation switch indicator bulb WILL cause the airbag light to come on. You can clear the code, it will come back as soon as you cycle the key again.

On most vehicles the switch assembly has to be replaced as the bulb is not replaceable.

i heard someone awhile back talk about soldering a bulb from radio shack onto the back of the deactivation switch. anyone know about this???

 

You can take switch out and replace diode inside.Just get one thats close to origanal one and solder it in.Good luck

 

Any pictures or more information on the diode replacement. I don't want to make a mod thinking I am saving a couple of bucks and plug back in only to watch two airbags go off.

I have a 1999 F-250 Super Duty 5.4L Triton and just the other day the airbag light came on and was solid and then later it started blinking, 2 times for like 5 cycles, then 3 times for a couple cycles, 2 times again once or twice and then it stays solid. my passanger airbag still turns on and off, when off it lights up, so i have no idea whats wrong or what to do. hooked up to a scanner and no codes came up

 

You need an advanced scanner to read airbag codes, simple ones won't do the job.

Carefully observe the flashing lamp. It's sending a two-digit Lamp Flash Code twice before it turns on solid.
